The Bible is the foundation of our faith, God's word to us in the world.  The Bible speaks about marriage and about people who marry in faith and love.

Some suggestions for Bible verses you may wish to include in your ceremony:

Mark 10:6-9:  Jesus said, "At the beginning of creation God made them male and female.  For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will be come one flesh.  So they are no longer two, but one.  Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."

Song of Songs 2:10-13:  My lover spoke and said to me, "Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, and come with me.  See!  the winter is past;  the rains are over and gone.  Flowers appear on the earth;  the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land.  Arise, come, my darling;  my beautiful one, come with me.

John 15:9-12:  Jesus said, "As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you.  Now remain in my love.  If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love.  I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.  My command is this:  Love each other as I have loved you."

There are many more possibilities.  The vicar will help you choose a text which is meaningful for you.

If you have a favourite poem or other reading, please discuss this with the Vicar.  It is often a lovely idea to have a relative or friend offer a special reading.
